It is the fully automated agarose gel system made by Interlab. Microgel performs in full automation all electrophoretic phases of Serum Proteins, Lipoproteins, Alkaline and Acid Hemoglobins, CSF, Unconcentrated Urine Proteins and in semi automation Immunofixation and the Isoenzymes of LDH, CPK and Alkaline Phosphatase.

Until now it was unthinkable to have a truly walk away agarose gel system. Thanks to its unique features, Microgel has the capability to work in a continuous mode and an extremely high throughput can be achieved - up to 150 tests per hour

The Microgel/Interlab G26 Immunofixation Electrophoresis (IFE) kit, thanks to the easy mask, provides a semi automated method for detection and identification of suspected monoclonal components.

The first 8 Immunofixation samples are completed within 40 minutes and subsequent groups every 15 minutes. Microgel and Interlab G26 work by a continuous loading mode.

	Monoclonal immunoglobulins are due to malignancies of B lymphocyte origin. The principle of immunofixation electrophoresis is based on the visualization of specific proteins through antigen-antibody precipitation, following protein separation by electrophoresis. Patient specimens are placed into the sample wells and the major protein groups are then separated by electrophoresis.
	For each Immunofixation sample six patterns are obtained on the gel plate. One pattern is treated with a fixative solution to create a serum proteins electrophoresis (SPE) reference pattern. Antisera with specificities for the heavy chains, anti gamma (IgG), anti alpha (IgA), anti mu (IgM) and for the light chains and (free and bound) are applied on the other five patterns.

Regents preparation

Reagents are ready to use, only the Stain and the Washing Solution for Immunofixation have to be reconstituted:
- Reconstitute Stain with 900 ml of distilled water.
- Dilute 20 ml of Washing Solution for Immunofixation to a final volume of 1L with distilled water

Samples preparation

Neat serum samples. Concentrated urines to a final total protein value of about 5 g/L

Sample storage and stability

Serum:	3 days at 2 to 8°C
Urine:	1 week at 2 to 8°C, and 1 month at –20°C
